FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why did the application change? The EF Board of Directors reviewed and updated our application to reflect recent changes in education and how applicants participated in school and extracurricular activities. The EF created a more comprehensive application that incorporates the values and mission of our organization.
Do I have to be an AHEPA or DOP member to receive a scholarship?
No if you are a high school student for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Yes if you are a college student for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Does my parent or qualifying relative have to be a member of the AHEPA or DOP? Please refer to the application as to who constitutes a qualifying relative.
No, but you receive points if they are members of AHEPA or DOP. If you, your parents, or qualifying relative want to become members we suggest you do so early in the year. The deadline for membership is December 31, 2024. Many chapters do not initiate new members every month. Please be considerate of the chapter’s schedule.
The EF notified all high school and college recipients about membership at the 2024 Awards banquet. We also sent out notifications though our district newsletters.
How does the EF verify membership for applicants, parents, and qualifying relatives?
The Board obtains membership lists and verifies membership for all college applicants and any applicant who claims that their parent or qualifying relative is a member.
How are points allocated on the application?
The Board does not release how points are allocated. Generally, the Board prioritizes a student’s GPA followed by activities in school/AHEPA/DOP/ Hellenic/religious/ community and other student involvement.
Who reviews the applications?
The Board appoints independent reviewers who are not on the Board to do an independent and unbiased review of the applications.

Do I have to attend the Awards Banquet?
Yes, if you are selected for a scholarship you must attend our Awards banquet on June 8, 2025, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Troy, Michigan.
